Wall of waters are time of year extenders to use to protect plants . I use mine asplant protectors in the springto get sure plants like tomatoes and peppers out sooner in the time of year when they are smaller than what is normally recommended and cold at night . Never utilise them in summertime when it is hot - you will ‘ ready ’ your plant inside them .
What are wall of amnionic fluid ( WOWs ) ?
When the cellular telephone are occupy up with water , they keep the plants warm by heating up in the daytime and release the heat for the plant at night . Wall of Waters are about 11″ tall so your plant will require to be small enough to fit inside to get protection .
Any marvelous plants will not be protected if they exsert past the top of the wow . It acts asinsulationto protect tomato plants fromcold , rain , blow and lead .
Always put them around your flora in the morning , on a sunny day , so the water has metre to heat up up to protect them at nite .
Why do I do this ?
-Living in a short growing season area , I can get plants outside originally , knowing they will be protect from a freezing nite - in reality down 26 degree ( I ’ve even record it can protect to take down temps ! ) By using them , I can transfer my tomatoes outside earlier . The last few years , I ’ve shaved off about 2 workweek from my schedule . I use to put my tomatoes out around May 15th which is the supposed first rime FREE day here in Santa Fe , NM - Zone 6B. Now I pilfer them in the first calendar week of May but peradventure not this twelvemonth with the unwarranted temperature swing . And they work beautifully . This means that I will get good tomato preferably than if I waited for the remote temp to warm up up before planting out of doors .
-The other thing they do is offer protection from our malarkey , which can be ferocious in the spring and thrash your crops .
-And I even used them for my common pepper plants too , which are even more cold-blooded sensitive than tomatoes . I will wait to plant Madagascar pepper plants this year till the first calendar week of June . Both tomatoes and peppercorn are warm time of year crops . You could even try them for eggplant starts . Wall of Waters come in a 3 - pack . There are also many me - too mathematical product of wow that should be fine .

Notice I plant the love apple in the dry land , make a well around the plant , put drip line around the plant if you are using drip mold , and then put a 5 gallon pail inverted over the flora , and put your empty wow over the 5 gallon bucketful . This help keep it from tipping over and squishing your plants when you start to fill up the plastic cell with water . I usually do 2 cells on one side , and then go across to the opposite side and fill 2 electric cell and then start to occupy the other cells around adjusting the howler to stand straight till all cells are filled up and then reach in and pull out the bucket and the wall of piddle will bear up . Because I live in a windy area , I also put some bamboo interest inside right up against the wow on the interior but do not pierce it . This facilitate fight against the wind from knocking the belly laugh over .
– Be sure you take off the wows when it gets hot in June as allow them on can electrocute your plants(remember the walls are heating up and it could get really hot inside).I only use these as an aid to get plant out in the beginning in spring .
-Let them dry out out after you are done and store your wow ’s in some sort of shiner - proof container to keep shiner from run through holes in them in the off season .
