Abby Porter , a Utah State University plant science major , has been present the Outstanding Undergraduate Horticulture Student Award from the American Society for Horticultural Science . She is one of just two students in the country to receive the scholarship this class .

Porter ’s heat for horticulture commence at a young age , inspired by her grandfather ’s orchid compendium in her hometown of Fruitland , Idaho , northwest of Boise . This warmth grew during her high school years when she joined FFA and vie in floriculture at the state storey . Her commitment to institute science led her to USU , where she has maintain top grades while equilibrize significant work time of day and extracurricular province .

In addition to being a standout student , Porter has been actively involved in leadership roles across campus . As an ambassador for the USU College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences , she share her sexual love of plant science — and her erotic love of Utah State — with prospective students . Her roles as a peer mentor and an undergraduate teaching fellow have made her a root of guidance and inspiration for her fellow students .
