gobs has happened since the lastupdateback in March . At that time I was struggle with the unseasonably cold atmospheric condition . seedling were getting frost , some were not thriving , and generally growing was dumb . I chose to re - sow and keep them inside to avoid too much temperature fluctuation . However , the early sowings were not a full loss . I have 6 plants of a comely sizing , they have been repot double , first to 1L spate then to 3L pots . I will pot them on again presently to their final family , some bucket - size pots . This should serve two purposes , giving them some room to mature comely base , but also to forbid dry out out promptly , a particular problem with small pots specially in a nursery surroundings . I am diffident how to cope the watering of these plants . Last twelvemonth I had a cunning plan involving capillarymatting and artificial lake armoured combat vehicle . This work quite well , but I ’ll have to adapt that to greenhouse dimensions . Or I could just water them as normal , direct the hazard of that being capable to me remembering , and also to holiday binding . I call back I ’ll Kraut - manipulate the reservoir system .
There are three sungolds , a cherry love apple .

The first batch plants are doing pretty well , with some bloom make an appearance , an supporting sign . They necessitate some more solid support , they are founder about on short canes at the consequence . These were the earliest sowings of all , sown in the second week of January .
Then there are three others , a Moneymaker , a Shirley , and a Gardener ’s Delight . These were sown towards the end of January .
The concluding indoor sowings have been potted on double , from seed trays to 7 cm pots and now to 1L quite a little . I ’ll kick upstairs them to 3L stool soon . I just kept four plant , for outer space reasons – I give a bunch more to protagonist . There are two Roma , two Gardener ’s Delight .

I cease up with many less plant life than I sowed seed for , but I would have had to thin numbers to a manageable amount anyway – I only have so much room in the glasshouse . I do n’t desire to grow any Lycopersicon esculentum outside this class , I want to taste to quash the dreaded late blight which take down my entire crop last year .
Now that we are in mid - May , I can be reasonably confident that the unhelpfully stale weather condition is but a retentivity and condition should now be good .
How are you make on with your tomatoes this year ?

I ’ll be back in a month or so with an update , hopefully some fruit will have set by then .
