Six on Saturday. Rainy June Days.

Of naturally we were desperate for pelting , as gardeners we know that the endless dry spring days spelt calamity for the garden . But … it ’s June and we need to be out there enjoy every sparkling mo of the garden whilst it is beautify in all its grand velvet and satins . If only it could rain down at Nox and if only the rain could be be a bit more gentle . These downpours just do n’t fit the rosiness . The abundant pallid pinkish flowers of my namesake rose ‘ Chloris ’ have turned a rather unappealing brown . If that is what she is going to do when it rains she has to go . And l know the peonies should have been properly impale and it is only my geological fault if a minute of Sarah Bernhardt is lie with her beautiful face in the mud . But I ca n’t help oneself being a fleck aggrieved .

Anyway , enough of the moaning and on with the six . Of naturally in June we have to start out with roses . Having vote down an apple tree in a late garden by letting it get stifle by an over - enthusiastic ‘ Paul ’s Himalayan Musk ’ I have believably give the kiss of death to the old tree diagram in this garden . After just 2 years the rose clearly has ambitions for world domination but it is so pretty .

The darker pink rose in the foreground isRosamacrantha‘Raubritter ’ . It is a procumbent , low growing rose with endearing cup - shaped , almost globular doubled flowers . I have it near the smaller pool which is little bigger than a puddle but gives me chance to grow some lovely pool plant life . At the consequence I am enjoying cotton forage and miniature bulrushes , Typha minima .

The rose over my wrought iron arches are in blooming now . My favorite is ‘ Bleu Magenta ’ which is the sullen of the purple ones .

Just one more uprise before you get rose dyspepsia . It is a cut from one I had in my previous garden . The original uprise never did very well because it was growing in the shade . This rose is doing so much in effect than its parent ever did and I am so beaming I bring off to propagate it . I always get it on the color and shape of its bloom . I found out its name from somebody commenting on my blog years ago . I have never take heed from him before or since but I am very grateful that I now have a name for this lovely rose wine , it is ‘ James Galway ’ . It is a David Austin rose discover after the celebrated flautist .

Growing up the same pear tree ambo I have a couple of clematis . Looking beneficial mightily now is the peerless ‘ Madame Julia Correvon ’ .

I have one iris diaphragm in theIrissibirica‘Peacock Butterfly ’ serial developed in Massachusetts , America , by Marty Schafer and Jan Sacks . They come in such an astonishing stove of colours . I have a fondness for dark-brown bloom andIrissibirica‘Peacock Butterfly Jerry Murphy ’ is a delicious colour . I mean to collect more in the serial even if they do have silly figure like ‘ Unbuttoned zipper ’ . I suppose some citizenry will find them a bit gaudy , they are suppose to be remindful of a peacock butterfly stroke ’s wings . Anyway , I like gaudy iris .

I showed myKalmialatifolia‘Kaleidoscope ’ on this web log last year and belike the year before . I am still amazed that I can arise this beauty even if it has to stay in a pot because I ca n’t give it the bitter grime it care . I bang the flowers but the conelike buds are magical like little queer castle gun enclosure .

I like it growing with the gorgeous heart mould dark leaves of Forest Pansy , Cerciscanadensis .. At only two twelvemonth old this little tree diagram is looking grand .

The livid snapdragon you may see by the pond was a seedling of the perennialAntirrhinum‘Tickled Pink ’ . I turn a loss the pink parent but this snowy offspring gets big and bushier every year . Like many ego - seeded plant it put itself in just the right situation .

Oh dear , I seem to have make the boundary and I wanted to speak about geranium . A quick question , how do you keepGeranium‘Rozanne ’ from sprawling all over everyone else ? I have read she smother weeds but she smothers everything . She is like the grossly overweight person you do n’t want to encounter yourself sit down next to on a long catch flight , however witching they are . Shall I force out her or is there a way of controlling her ?

So that is my six , ( I count the rose as one ) and I ’m not count the geranium at all . She is far too greedy for attending , I do n’t want to encourage her .
