Gardening
What a mucky day Friday was weather - wise . I might have been willing to yield that it ’s no longer very summery out , but this break of the day ? Beautiful out . Still summertime !
Anyway , regardless , prison term for another Six on Saturday . Six things , in the garden , on a Saturday . Could be anything . A line of work complete , a project , a pest , an interesting plant , a tedious plant , anything at all !

Here are my Six .
1 . Wisteria . This is well demonstrate now , its dwelling has been a trellis cover that tell apart the pretty remnant of the garden from the work end . It has fully colonised this treillage and is busy heading over the archway to the other side . I pruned this growth back altogether last twelvemonth with a thought to maximising the unfolding . I did n’t read the fine print which say “ except for any growth required to train the plant ” or something like . Fortunately , since early outflow it has responded vigorously , growing across the arch , a in effect 4 feet of span . I ’m require that next class it will establish a beachhead on the other treillage that forms a similar screen on the other side of the garden . I should at least have good blossom on the arch next spring .
2 . meddlesome Lizzies . I grew these from seed this year , nothing fancy . They are busy flowering away in a terrace hatful . Simples .

3 . Sedum ‘ matrona ’ . Recently bought for peanuts ( compare to the sticker Leontyne Price ) in my local garden centre . Currently languishing in my hold area , it is flowering away , doing its thing . As a bonus extra , there ’s also a somewhat out of focus garden wanderer .
4 . Helenium autumnale . I ’m fast develop a mo of an compulsion for helenium . They look so great implant en masse . When I last sport this flora in a Six on Saturday post , there were only one or two efflorescence , so I ’m giving them another cranny here . I have several clumps now , both front and back garden . I ’d wish to add to these next year with some redder variety show , ‘ Moerheim Beauty ’ and ‘ Sahin ’s Early Flowerer ’ are the unity I have in mind . Any others you ’d recommend ?
5 . Climbing Rose . I ’m not sure of the variety ( recurring theme , must do a good job of keeping cut ) . I recall buying it a couple of years back , with the intent of it climb up up the side of the arch . It ’s never really done anything and I do n’t think of it blossom noticeably . Bizarrely it has spring into life the last few weeks , putting on a bit of ontogeny to the item where I ’ve started to train it vertically , and also flowering . I think the mulch apply to the borders in the bound has encouraged it to buck its ideas up .

6 . smutty elder , sambucus nigra . I wish this bush , but am feeling a little ambivalent about it at the moment . I ca n’t get it into a seemly shape . I think it wants to grow big than I want it to . I do like the folio material body , I like the flowers and the fruit are lovely too . But I do n’t like the overall software system at the moment . I have a lowly plant , a cutting from the independent bush , so I am contemplating starting again , imbed it somewhere dissimilar and being more coordinate with the pruning .
I ’ll be back next week with another Six . , enjoy the rest of your weekend , and do n’t leave to learn back for new data link to other fabulous Six posts .
