In 2016 we had 1 plan and 2 inadvertent Seminole pumpkin harvest !

Our planned crop was seeds saved from our 2015 craw planted into two-15 gallon containers . The seeds germinated , the vines lead off , covering most of our 50 ’ tenner 12 ’ quad reserved for SPs ! Not satisfied , our SP vines farm over and through our 6 ’ high shadow box fencing into our neighbour yard . They rent the vines grow and had their first crop of SP !

Later we added SP mush to our compost pile … the seeds in that pulp took off , producing yield in our compost pile before heading over and through the shadowbox fence , giving our neighbor a second harvest of SP !

Later we gave SP pulp to our lay hens ; some of the seeds escaped the chickens vertex , germinated , escaped the runnel , and covered an country in front of the coop , acquire our third crop !

Big Green Seminole Pumpkins?

“ I have what I ’m told are seminole Cucurbita pepo . I got the seed from a local seeded player trader in oviedo , florida .

They are all green like this photograph :

But , they are vast . several have to be over ten pounds already and they are all still that same coloring material green . ”

My response was :

“ They face like a variety of Seminole pumpkin to me . A few of mine hit 14lbs ! Once fully mature ( as in , the stem of the yield has yellow up ) and brought at bottom to cure , the green ones often set forth to turn tan over time . ”

As you may see on theSeminole Pumpkin Projectpage , Seminole pumpkins are a wide - rank land race veggie rather than a tight breed . That ’s whyI started cover themfor specific quality .

When I get some land I ’ll get back to it .

Why not get yourself some Seminole Cucurbita pepo seed for your spring garden ? They grow half - idle and make delectable pumpkins that will usually store on your shelf all the room until next Christmas .

And now you do n’t have to take just my word for it . The Seminole pumpkin testimony keep rolling in .
