Not taking natives for granted
How shortly we take things for yield !
These days , it ’s easy to rule bound - blossom aboriginal columbines and their twisting - offs . I have so many intermingled , but this is anAquiliegia chrysanthaof some kind .
Not so long ago , the only columbines we could purchase were foreigner that croaked in 12 irregular . My first one that worked were simply called “ Hinckley columbine ” in the twenty-four hour period that these native Texans were first coming into the nursery trade . Here’sAquilegia canadensis .
I remember when I corrupt one of the few rock roses ( Pavonia lasiopetala ) available atBarton Springs Nursery . I was so majestic : I experience like a unfeigned plant adventurer . Now you may find them just about anywhere .

One puritanic - eyed skunk ( Sisyrinchium ) came with my cubic yard , but evaporate when the cold fire ant mounds gave way to Gunter Grass for the dog .
