Our Annual Garden Photos – it is hard to believe this is how it all looked in late 2010
One thing is for sure , more than anything else , we revel the fact that we built it with our own four hands and a circle of fret fairness . There is something so special and fulfil about a DIY lifestyle .
Yes , thing may not always go dead . Yes , projects can take longer than look . But if you work a picayune every day at your dreams , good things happen .
We hope you enjoy this years ’ farm and garden picture below . Here is to many more August photograph in the years to hail !

Farm And Garden Photos – 2018
It is hard to think there was n’t a single thing on the holding in the spring of 2011 except a mowed - off field . Fast forward to today , and we somehow managed to build up a barn , out-of-door garden , Gallus gallus coop , outside fire pit area and pergola . The funny thing is , it never seemed like work then , nor does it now .
To this day , our recycled barn stay one of our favorite DIY labor . We created it from two honest-to-god barns that we tore down and brought to the dimension . One of the barns was my dads , pass water it all the more particular .
It has been a really corking year for the garden , particularly view that we simply did n’t have the sentence to be in it as much this year . It is awing what stir quarrel , good compost , heavy mulch , worm castings and cover crop can do for the health of your soil .

This class was a braggy test for the real “ scummy - sustentation ” garden , and we could n’t be happier . As you’re able to see , our San Marzano tomato plants are load .
This niggling position is all DIY ! When we first planted the little hillside vineyard , we wanted a space above it to be able to delight the view . We carved out this little flat place by digging into the hillside . We pick up a few loads of inexpensive heavy rock at the quarry down the route to create a natural retaining wall , and added a gravel base .
After than , we lay down jam limestone and a little pea crushed rock and work up a few of our Adirondack death chair for the space . We finished it off by sinking an umbrella bearer , and our piddling vinery sitting field was complete !

The hydrangea bush is coming on with a 2d wave of beautiful unaccented blue blooms . It is such a wonderful industrial plant in that it provides colour and involvement throughout the spring , summer and descent . We desire to tot up a few more ( hydrated lime green and ashen ) next class to the landscape painting as well .
Home Made Pasta Sauce
Our San Marzano and Amish Paste tomatoes are come on strong ! That means its meter to can our homemade alimentary paste sauce ! We never get old-hat of seeing the canning jarful chill on the counter , it is just a beautiful sight to behold .

This has been an amazing year for the Lycopersicon esculentum in the garden . The atmospheric condition has been well-nigh thoroughgoing , and with equal rainwater , it will be a bumper crop . San Marzano Lycopersicon esculentum are simply are downright pet when it follow to seduce pasta sauce , pizza sauce and salsa . They are big , meaty , and have petty ejaculate cores – making them ideal to work with .
Using rock from the nearby quarry , I think we built our fire orchestra pit for right around $ 100 . It has certainly stood the test of time . We use it cook cock-a-hoop locoweed of soup over heart-to-heart flame , roasting marshmallows , and to simply hang out and babble out with friends and kinsfolk late at nighttime . We build 4 of our 2 x 4 Adirondack Chairs to sit around the fire . The heavy - duty electric chair have been one of our favorite DIY projects in the last few years . We have a amount of 10 scattered around the property . Not only are they inexpensive to build , they are virtually indestructible . See : How To establish Our Adirondack Chairs
The Zea mays everta has really perform well this class . Perhaps too well . For the first time ever , the racoon have meandered in to try a few ears ! you may see the bit of damage in the 2d photo with the stalks set on the undercoat .

We do n’t mind sharing a bit , but Mary gets a bit upset when they do n’t finish an ear !
This pic is my personal front-runner for today . It is of our sprawling cantaloupe industrial plant originate firm and wild hell dust in the middle of our green bean row .
It is load with about 8 to 10 perfectly influence melon . The best part of all – we did n’t constitute it ! It somehow terminate up in our garden via our compost , and the semen took hold . It seems like every year , somewhere in the garden or somewhere on the farm , something pass we did n’t expect . That is all just part of the fun !
