In a Vase on Monday. Potted Pleasures and the Scents of Winter.
My first hatful ofIris reticulatain the greenhouse is full of heyday and I thought I would put some in a little vase with an strange primula . I do n’t cognise how long these irises keep fresh in a vase , but in the event I could n’t birth to pick them . So this week I am bending the rules of Cathy ’s meme and showing plants in pots .
I love these little irises in the garden in February , but I always squeeze a few pots in the greenhouse to revel in January . This yellow one is a raw one , it isIris reticulata‘Sunrise ’ . It is butter-flower yellow and very pretty .

Purists may disapprove of the primrose and I probably would n’t found it in the garden . But again I bang to have a few brightly coloured primula in the winter greenhouse . This gloomy and white stripy one is called ‘ Zebra Blue ’ and it was build up in Belgium fromPrimula‘Tie Dye ’ . It is similar to one I uprise a few geezerhood ago call ‘ Denim ’ .
Primula vulgaris ‘ Zebra Blue ’
I sleep together blue and yellow together . I married them with a lilliputian variegated ivy .

They are all sitting in a large Villeroy and Boch ‘ Botanica ’ bowl .
The great pleasure in the wintertime garden is the luscious aroma of early flowering shrubs . As it is dismal outside today , I have brought a few twig of my preferent fragrant plants indoors .
In a midget pot I have Winter Sweet , Chimonanthus praecox , a witch hazel;Hamamelis x intermedia‘Vesna ’ , named after the Russian Goddess of Spring . Also the wintertime blossoming honeysuckle ; Lonicera standishii ‘ Winter Beauty’,Sarcococcahookerianavar.humiliswith its strangely obsess perfume , and my absolute favouriteDaphne bhloua‘Jaqueline Postill ’ which stop visitor in their track .

A branchlet of Rosmarinus officinalis and a little sweetly scented snowdrop fill out the vase . Such a petite heap but the aroma fills the room . Thanks to Cathy atramblinginthegardenfor hosting the meme . Do go and see what she and her enthusiastic followers are putting in their vase today . My money is on the hag hazel ; Cathy is the Hamamelis Queen and what pleasure a aggregation like hers gives at this fourth dimension of the class .

Beautiful arrangements both . awe-inspiring to think such a humble pot can compact such a fragrant punch !
Those iris diaphragm are a pleasure and I remember a little meretriciousness is let in smoke . Your vase of fragrancy is superb and looks so pretty and treat .
I think putting the pots in a bowl ( particularly one that fairly ) fits the pecker as an system for IAVOM . I also love yellow - blue combinations . I used to plant English primrose every year even though they ’re loosely shortly - live plants here ( they ca n’t take the summertime rut and dry conditions ) but I ’ve reach them us since the drought ingest clasp ; however , I might make an exception for one as interesting as ‘ Zebra Blue ’ .

Oh if only perfume could be transmit by the ether what bliss that would be . An exquisite footling gathering of winter sweet gems Chloris . I inquire who / what ‘ Vesna ’ might be so give thanks you for that little snippet of information .
These are so beautiful ! I ca n’t get enough scrolling through your pictures ! Thank you and greeting .
Delightful arrangement as always !
