It ’s wintertime time , and you sleep with what that means . It ’s citrus season !

We are lucky enough to have ally and family line in the southerly part of the country who place us homegrown citrus fruit during the wintertime , which is always an exciting parcel to get !

Recently we got a cluster of super gamy grapefruits , and while I ’m perfectly well-chosen eating a one-half of one every day with my breakfast , I need to do something a piffling different with them this time .

After search up a bunch of dissimilar recipes , I settled on Citrus paradisi curd !

Grapefruit Curd Recipe

This formula is adapted from101 Cookbook ’s Ginger Grapefruit Curd Recipe . I go out the peppiness out of this one , but feel gratuitous to supply it if you ’d like !

The day you ’re going to make this curd , test to remember to take out the butter and eggs out of the fridge to let sit at room temp for a few hours . It ’s not essential , but it will make everything blend a little better .

Zest and Juice the Grapefruit

Then juice the grapefruits , enough to make 1 cup of succus . Mine were really juicy so I only demand to use two .

Make the Grapefruit Curd

Simmer the Citrus paradisi juice down to ½ cupful .

If you do n’t have time for this step it is ok to jump it and and just start out with 1/2 cup of juice from the beginning , but I think doing it do for a much more flavourous curd .

drub together the butter and lucre in a metal stadium . You will be make a double steam boiler with this bowl , so apply one that will fit on top of a saucepan .

bestow in the egg yolks and eggs , one at a time , stirring to blend each one . A whisk serve .

Heat the Grapefruit Curd in a Double Boiler

This is a great way to apply up any excess citrus you might have . Lime would be wonderful , as would Meyer lemon yellow or orange .
