Flowers and doggy helpers
Peggy Sheets , from Bay St. Louis in southerly Mississippi , sent in a wondrous batch of photos back in May , and while wepublished some of themthen , she had so many peachy figure that we just did n’t have room for them all . We ’re happy to be sharing more of her photos today , focusing on some of the small detail that make her garden a extra , joyous place .
Black - eyed Susan vine ( Thunbergiaalata , yearly ) is a smashing plant I ’m surprised I do n’t see in garden more often , as it is very easy to develop , blooms all summer , and while vigorous , wo n’t get out of hand like some other annual vine . ( Morning glories , I ’m look at you . )
A beautiful ground cover jazz band : bright atomic number 79 creeping Jenny ( Lysimachianummularia‘Aurea ’ , Zones 3–9 ) and the bronze / brownish farewell of bugle ( Ajugareptans , Zones 3–10 ) . Both are adaptable to a blanket kitchen range of climates and conditions , and the beautiful leaves outlast any flower .

‘ Contess de Bouchard ’ heavy flowered clematis ( Clematis‘Contess de Bouchard ’ , Zones 4–11 )
Peggy label this photo simply “ felicity . ” Need we say more ?
‘ fundamental Scream ’ daylily ( Hemerocallis‘Primal Scream ’ Zones 4–9 ) . This is one of the best daylily variety out there , producing massive quantities of enormous vivid orange blossom . And ‘ Primal Scream ’ is a middling gravid name too .

This is Huey , one of Peggy ’s garden benefactor . I ’m not certain how much avail he really is , but he isverycute !
‘ Pink Shira ’ bigleaf hydrangea ( Hydrangeamacrophylla‘Pink Shira ’ , Zones 5–9 ) . Remember that the flower will change over toward blue in acid soil , so tote up a footling lime to put forward the pH if you require pink hydrangeas .
If shade perennials like Funka and ferns do n’t provide enough color for you , add up a caladium ! These bulbs are only hardy in Zones 9–11 , but they can be used as annuals , or you could stab the bulbs and store them for the wintertime in colder zones . This one with the white leaves splashed with bright red veins is certainly a show - stopper !

‘ Mandarin Wind ’ hibiscus ( Hibiscusrosa – sinensis‘Mandarin Wind ’ , Zones 9–11 ) . It is surd to beat tropical hibiscus for brilliant flowers !
