Amy says,“Despite what a muckle of multitude told me when I decide to leave my career and be a stay - at - household mom , I got bored . I went from work 60 hour a workweek and claim phone calls at all hours of the nighttime to trying to keep myself busy after crafting , preparation , and clean . My adult MBD did n’t allow me the power to sit down and I had to be doing something , constantly . The rampart were shut in on me after a very stale winter in 2012 and I feel like I was drop off my judgement indoors . For our six twelvemonth wedding day of remembrance my hubby inform me that I could have anything I wanted , as long as he could buy newfangled golf clubs . I went along with it , knowing in the back of my mind that my idea of someday hold a secret garden would soon come true , and what full way to keep myself ( and my little ones ) busybodied . Little did I know how much work it would be . I purchased what I needed on April 7th , 2012 ; a arbor , a fence , top soil , manure , semen , a few bulbs , and my favorite rise bushes , but over the next duet weeks it rain down , and rain , and rain down . With two little girls ( Eva was six and Lucy was four ) the back yard was often a mad sight , cluttered with mud pies , toy dog lawn mowers , bicycles , etc . I decided to take the domain behind the service department and turn over it into my haven . I had drawn everything out on paper in the lead of meter and had a pretty upright approximation of what I need it to look like , although I was secretly terrorize that nothing was going to grow ! I have never take to be a master nurseryman but I have always scan o.k. Gardening magazine and admire the beautiful landscape and flowers that others superintend to grow ! By May 14th I had everything in ground . The next few weeks were very stressful as I was scared that perhaps I add too much manure to the soil , or that the tree would make too much shade , and on and on and on . I was set about to palpate like a total half-wit and was coming to the conclusion that my female child would have a neat small fence to throw their plaything in , but that would be about all the secret garden would amount to . By August 9th every undivided thing I had planted had bloom and I felt like a fighter ! I had dahlias the sizing of my point and it finger amazing to watch the day-to-day progress of my first accomplishment as a future nurseryman . There are Knockout rose George Walker Bush , climbing rose President Bush , dahlia , oriental lilies , pineapple plant lilies , blackened - eyed Susans , block - me - nots , wild heyday , dawn glory , impatiens , clematis , gerbera daisies , lavender , spike , salvia , gladiolas , calla lily lilies , Asian lilies , canterberry bells , Alaska podium , peonies , and begonias , to name a few . My preferent part is the walk . I turn over painted former b boards with my favorite locution , “ Step into the garden and reverse your face to the Sunday . It will help you commend all that is beautiful and right in the worldly concern ” .
